Did you ever take a step, and days (weeks, months, or years) later realize that little step changed the trajectory of your life in ways you never anticipated? One of those in my life was one question. I asked my chiropractor about a nutiritional supplement carried in the office. Their response led us to a conversation about my weight, which led to a weight loss plan. And just like that, I went from one question to a path towards completely different perspective on life, health, and well-being. The changes in my life, my marriage, my other relationships, my career - these are the things I never could have anticipated when asking that simple question. Who knew, right? Fifteen years and counting since that question, and I still don't think I have a clue about where this can still lead - and I like it that way.
Every now and then, I need to remind myself to just take that first tiny step and let the rest evolve. Two of my favorite phrases sum this up pretty nicely. So much so that combine, they are inspiration for one of my tattoos.
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step.
If you are unhappy, move! You are not a tree.
