“The hallmark of a decision in line with one’s character is ease and contentment, and an ample, even provision of natural energy.”
~Anne Truitt
This quote reminds me of a concept I explore in my own life:
*Is my life sustainable for my mind, my body, my world?
*Am I living a life of integrity?
*Do I live and make decisions according to my values, my personal character?
*What does it feel like when I truly match daily life to my values?
Do you ever ask yourself questions like this? If so, where do you start?
Knowing what you value is key. It sounds simple at first, but life is complicated. Perhaps you have found that living differently from what you value leaves you feeling uncomfortable, unsettled. It makes you uneasy without knowing immediately why. Other times, it takes having your values directly challenged before they are clear. And sometimes values are right out front and obvious.
Using a values assessment or working with someone to guide you through a values exploration is helpful. As a coach, I find values work to be energizing and affirming. I know my clients have appreciated the time to clarify their values and make choices accordingly. While life is never going to be simple, values-based decisions certainly bring ease and contentment to life. I believe it is the key to living sustainably and authentically.
If you want to experience the “ample, even provision of natural energy” that comes from being true your values, I will be honored to join you on that journey.
